Yoga for flexibility

yogaWe do a lot of strength training at boot camp, so you have to remember to do serious stretching in order to keep your new muscles long and lean and flexible. I haven't been following this advice too well over the last couple of months. I used to be very into yoga -- and have been on and off for almost 10 years -- but I fell off the horse in favor of boot camp. Yesterday, though, I jumped back on with a gift certificate my mom gave me and I fell in love again. (Even though my muscles yelled at me and told me they forgot everything they knew!)

If you want to try it out, one great place to do it is Corepower Yoga, which has locations both downtown and on Garden of the Gods. For one, they give a week of free classes for first-time students, meaning that you can try as many classes as you want in the seven days after you register. Secondly, they offer the whole range of classes, from beginner's to intermediate to advanced. The advanced, which I did when I was going regularly, is their hot yoga: 1.5 hours, 102 degrees, 100 percent humidity and a sweaty good time. You walk out of there feeling like you've been washed, scrubbed, wrung out and then fluffed dry. Um yeah. Best to start with the beginners, which is how I warmed back up yesterday.

Check out their schedule by clicking here and choosing a location. It's great fun and there's no charge to give it a whirl, so why not?

P.S. This is totally not my reason for mentioning the studio, but if you mention my name as the person who referred you, I get $5 on my account. Email me and I'll give you my last name, or heck, perhaps we can check it out together!
